Mr. Albert Woodard, Jr. was born on August 1, l949, to the late Kate Trice Woodard and the late Mr. Albert Woodard, Sr., in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. He received his education in the public school of Upson County.
During his young adult years, he met Ms. Betty Walker. They were joined in marriage on January 11, l974. To this union three children were born.
He was employed by the City of Thomaston Water Department for over 40 years, and will be remembered as a hardworking man with tireless work ethics. His determined spirit and strong hands built a life he was proud of. Albert enjoyed going to church and hearing the Word of God. In his free time, Albert enjoyed the simple pleasures in his life – shopping for men’s dress suits, watching sports, and taking pride in his cowboy boots.
Known for telling it like it was, and for calling you a “Squirrel” - you know what that meant. He took great pride in his family and cherished spending time with them. More than anything, Albert loved his wife, his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His strength and love will remain with them always.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Allen Woodard and Ashley Woodard and daughter-in-law, Philanda Woodard; three brothers, Bennie Floyd Woodard, Antoine Woodard and Willie Woodard; four sisters, Annie Kate Woodard, Roberta Alsobrookis, Susie Mae Woodard and Juanita Baker. On Thursday, April 9, 2026, the Lord called his name. His spirit took flight and returned to the Heavenly Father.
He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted family, which includes his loving wife, Mrs. Betty Woodard; a daughter, Mrs. Brandy (Daryl) Brazil; ten grandchildren, Devonte Woodard, Marquerious Traylor, Keelin Woodard, Naquan Woodard, Kelis Chaney, Sanaa Woodard, Ajah Woodard, Kinsley Woodard, Layla Woodard and Jade Brazil; seven great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law include: David (Pearl) Walker, Willie Frank Walker, Sinclair (Andy) Mallory, Rachel Raines, Willie Teen Parks, Brend Walker (Joe), Bobby Baker all of Thomaston, GA, Seadon (Tari) Walker of Fort Worth, TX, Margie Edwards and Bertha (Grady) Goodwin all of Atlanta, GA and Debra Wylie of Severn, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
