Obituary For Mr. Alvin Jerome Matthews

Mr. Alvin Jerome Matthews was born on September 9, 1959, to the late Mrs. Elmira Matthews and the late Mr. Gus Matthews, Jr. He was educated in the public schools of Upson County and attended Drake High School. He later received his GED. Alvin was employed by the Upson Regional Medical Center, where he served as an emergency technician for many years. He was a faithful employee and loved working in the Emergency Room. He was always willing to help and serve wherever needed. Alvin’s favorite pastime was watching sports, especially basketball, tennis, basketball, and football. Football was his favorite. He was a diehard Falcon fan. He loved watching Andy Griffin, and he loved listening to old school music and good gospel music. He worked tirelessly for the Obama campaign. He always wanted to see his race succeed.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Calvin O’Keefe Matthews. On Sunday, May 1, 2022, the Lord called his name. He answered the call and went home to his eternal resting place.

Alvin leaves to cherish his memory, one son, Keontre Williams; one brother, Bruce Matthews; one nephew, Jeffery O’Neil Matthews all of Thomaston, GA; one niece, Shandra O’Kedra Matthews of TX; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends. Memorial Services were held Friday, May 6, 2022 2:00 P.M. George E. Trice Jr. Memorial Chapel
