Mr. Charlie Allen Childs was born on April 9, 1949 to Mrs. Ruthie Napier Childs and the late Mr. Bennie C. Childs in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. He entered public school in Thomaston and graduated from Drake high school.
After graduation, he entered the United States Army and served on active duty from March 26, 1969 until December 28, 1970. He served on reserve duty until March 25, 1975. He received an honorable discharge.
He moved to Cleveland, later to Dayton, Ohio and then back to his hometown of Thomaston. He was the father of two children. He was a skilled auto mechanic who loved working on cars. He taught classes in auto repair at Flint River Technical School. He also loved watching sports, telling stories about his childhood, and recalling stories of the past.
He was preceded in death by his father & his brother Bobby Steve (Cheryl) Childs. On Saturday, April 20, 2024 the Lord summoned his spirit home. His departure was touched the hearts of his family; but, his memory will live on. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Ruthie Napier Childs of Jonesboro, GA; two children, Mr. Charles Childs Jr. of Lithonia, GA and Mrs. Emily Perkins of Dayton, OH; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Childs (David) Roussaw of Jonesboro, GA. and Mrs. Elaine Childs (Hime) Hambrick of Stockbridge, GA; three brothers, Rev. Dr. Henry (Vivian) Childs of Warner Robins, Mr. Joseph Childs of Thomaston, GA and Mr. Kim Lamar (Lisa) Childs of Seattle, WA; two aunts, Mrs. Mary Alice Walker of Jonesboro, GA. and Mrs. Annie L. Mahone of Thomaston, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
