Mr. Cleve Thomas Mann, more affectionately known as “Bo Pete,” was born on July 15, l943, to the late Mrs. Grover C. Brown Maines and the late Mr. Lawson “Jake” Maines in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia.
He was educated in the public school of Upson County and attended Drake High School. He was the father of three children. To provide for his family, he was employed by the City of Thomaston in Public Works. He worked his way up to being manager of the department before retiring. He was also employed as a crossing guard for the Upson County School System. He was a faithful and dedicated employee. In his early years, he coached recreational basketball at the Civic Center. He enjoyed working with the children and serving as a mentor.
At an early age, he joined the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church. He served on the Usher Ministry for many years, sung in the Male Choir and drove the church van. He was a faithful and dedicated member before his health began to fail.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He would pick them up and drive them around. He was known as “Pa Pa,” by them. During his leisure time, he enjoyed watching football, especially his Georgia football team, Kansas City Chiefs and Braves baseball. He loved listening to old school music, gospel music and driving around sightseeing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Betty Hobbs and Bessie Lee Maines and one brother, Mr. Walter “Buck,” Maines. On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, the Lord called his name. He answered the call and his spirit returned to the heavenly father. He will be greatly missed by his family, church family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three children, Angelin Maines of Atlanta, GA, Thaddeus Mann and Christopher Manns both of Thomaston, GA; one grandson he raised as his own, Marique (Abbie) Mann of Zebulon, GA; nine other grandchildren, Taylar Warren, Kenton Mann, Nicole Buffin, Angelica Mann, Dominque Harden, Takeyuna Smith, Jaziyah Napier, Khamamyns Mann and Kholsten Mann; great-grandchildren, Kori Mann, Caroline Mann and seven other great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Barnnetta Smith of Thomaston, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
