Mr. Donald Grant was born May 16, 1956 to the late Mrs. Flossie Corbin Grant and the late Mr. Solomon Morris Grant, Sr. in Thomaston, Upson County, GA. He was educated in the Upson County School System and attended Drake High School. Donald’s love for music began as a young teenager, when he learned the skill of playing the guitar. He was gifted and talented. At the age of 15, he became a member of the Golden Crowns Gospel Singers. He enjoyed traveling and playing for the Golden Crowns, which lasted a span of over 58 years. He played for several churches in the community as well. On November 9, 2002, Donald married Ms. Jackie Durham. The two became one and they shared eighteen years together. To support his family, he was employed by Tencate-Southern Mills until his health begin to fail. He joined the Springfield Baptist Church and began playing there as a musician. His love for gospel much never waivered. He was content to praising and worshipping God with his music. During his leisure time, he loved watching westerns, eating, playing gospel music, and playing his guitar. Donald was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lisa Grant; and one brother, Solomon Morris Grant, Jr. On Sunday, November 8, 2020, the Lord called Donald’s name. He answered, and his spirit took flight and went home to rest. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mrs. Jackie D. Grant; one daughter, Ms. Latasha Grant; one step-daughter, Ms. Robin Durham; three grandchildren, Kennedi Lanell Collier, Tykerria Grant, and Tynneshia Grant all of Thomaston, GA; four sisters, Mrs. Monnie Ree Brazil, Mrs. Mary Lois Ausbrooks, Ms. Brenda Grant, and Ms. Loretta Grant all of Thomaston, GA; one brother, Mr. Chester Grant of Thomaston, GA; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Savannah (Marcus) Kendall, Mr. Alva (Lisa) Durham, and Mr. Johnny Durham all of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Armanda (Willie) Wilkins of Concord, GA and Mr. Eddie Durham of Williamson, GA; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Graveside Services were held Friday, November 13, 2020 Springfield Church Cemetery
