Mr. James Curtis Davis was born in Marion, SC, to the late Mrs. Sarah Brunson Davis and the late Mr. Wardell Davis on March 11, 1941. He was raised in Miami, FL. where he was educated and grew up as a young man.
As a young man, he began working and found employment as a custodian at the Marion County School Board. He was employed for many years and later met the love of his life, Mary Alice Bussey. They fell in love and were married on April 27, 1960. They later moved to Georgia, where they began their family. To support his wife and family, began working at the Woodbury Pepper Plant. He always found work to do with his hands.
Being raised a Baptist, he soon joined his wife's church, The Road Map Holiness Church. He supported the ministry and was very faithful.
During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, swimming, attending amusement parks, traveling---especially driving to South Carolina----cooking, spending time with the family, especially the grandchildren, and he loved old cars and trucks and working on them.
He was preceded in death by his parents two sisters, Sarah Robinson Burton and Edna Murray Davis. On Sunday, November 9, 2025, as the family sand his favorite song. “Come On In My Room,” his spirit took flight and went home to rest. His memory will live on in their hearts.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Mrs. Mary Alice Davis of Thomaston, GA; nine children, Ms. Mary Angleane (Kelvin) Andrews and Mrs. Deborah Davis Brown, both of Thomaston, GA. Mr. James Anthony (Manika) Davis of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Mrs. Amanda (Kelvin) Etheridge and Mrs. Tongala (Alinjayeju) McKenney, both of Griffin, GA, Mrs. Lenetta (Clifford) Holzendorf of Miami, FL, Ms. Samantha Davis of Marion, SC, Mr. Morris (Kenyatta) Alford of Locust Grove, GA; and Mr. Maurice (Taereska) Alford of Thomaston, GA; forty grandchildren, sixty-one great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers-in-law include, Mrs. Joanne (Robert) Searcy of Thomaston, GA, Mr. Lewis James (Mabelle) Bussey of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Mr. Willie Fred (Priscilla) Bussey of Zebulon, GA; a devoted niece, Mrs. Delores (John) Bolden of Albany, GA; and a host of other nieces, nephews cousins, other relatives, and friends.
