James (Jim) Melvin Doggett was one of six children born to the late Reverend Harvey and Geraldine Doggett on November 12, 1936, in Capels, West Virginia.
Jim honorably served 5 years in the US Airforce before marrying the love of his life, Shirley P. Doggett in 1969. Shortly after, a family was born with Chrishirella, Molena, Anika, and Jimmy entering their lives. Jim was affectionally known as Frog to his children/grandchildren and Uncle Buddy to his nieces and nephews.
Jim was an avid naturopathic; Back to Barnesville was a culmination of this passion. Coast to coast, Jim educated thousands on home remedies and natural ways to enhance their everyday lives. From school children to working professionals, the number of people he impacted can only be underscored. His most recent project involved empowering folks with natural hair care. An avid story teller, Jim was passionate about leaving a legacy of information and intentionality.
Shirley’s job brought the couple to Puerto Rico for 5 years, and after the completion of her assignment, the couple returned to Barnesville, GA in 2005. Jim was intentional about the location, as it was across the street from where they built their first home together in the 70s.
Jim was proceeded in his death by his lovely wife Shirley and is survived by his children: Chrishirella Warthen, Molena Wells (Jerome), Anika Madden (Jevon), and Jimmy; along with his grandchildren: Jerome III, Jalen, Tyler, Janaia, King, James III, John, and Hope. He is also survived by his sibling Paul (Mary), and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
