Mr. Larry James Walton was born on December 15, 1962, in Barnesville, Lamar County, Georgia, to Ms. Clara Mae Dumas Walton and the late Mr. Edward Walton Sr. From the very beginning, Larry was surrounded by family, faith, and a strong sense of togetherness that would shape the man he became.
He attended Bethel Baptist Church with his family, where he learned the importance of faith and community. Larry received his education through the Lamar County Public Schools System and went on to become a hardworking and dependable man.
Larry spent many years working at Carters Textiles, side by side with his father and brother—something he took great pride in. He later worked at Gordon State College in the custodial department, where he was known for his dedication and quiet, steady presence.
On April 20, 2025, Mr. Larry James Walton peacefully transitioned at Harborview Nursing Home. Though his passing leaves a deep void, his life and the love he shared will never be forgotten.
More than anything, Larry loved his family. He was a proud and devoted father to his daughter, Melissa, who meant the world to him. He also found great joy in his grandchildren, who brought light and happiness into his life. Larry was the kind of man who showed his love not just in words, but in his actions—being there, helping, and staying connected to those he cared about.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Melissa Liane Walton of Forsyth; his loving mother, Ms. Clara Mae Walton of Barnesville; his cherished grandchildren, Roddrecus Dyshon Walton, Jayden Marquez Butler, and Jaylah Marie Butler; his sister, Ms. Necole M. Walton; and his brother, Mr. Edward (Edith) Walton Jr., both of Barnesville.
He is also lovingly remembered by his aunts, Ms. Clementine Morgan and Ms. Christine O’Neal of Barnesville, and Ms. Linda O’Neal-Parker of Griffin, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Larry will be remembered for his kind heart, his quiet strength, and the deep love he had for his family. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the love he gave will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
