Obituary For Mr. Nathaniel Stroud

Mr. Nathaniel Stroud was born on October 8, 1950 to the late Mrs. Ruby Pate Stroud and the late Mr. Elvie Durham in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. He was educated in the Upson County School System and attended Drake High School. When Nathaniel reached manhood, he was employed by Thomaston Mills in the Bleachery Department for many years. In 1984, he met Ms. Sylvia Radcliff; and on April 2, 1984, they were joined in Holy Matrimony. Their union was blessed with one daughter, Rickesha Nadine Stroud. He raised three other children, Brenton, Vedra and Tamiko, as his own. He later was employed by the City of Thomaston as a maintenance worker. After seven years, he became disabled to work, and he retired. In March 2011, Nathaniel confessed Christ and joined the Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church. His faith in Christ grew stronger as he heard the word of God being preached by his beloved pastor, Pastor Charles E. Reeves. Nathaniel was an outdoor person. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and working on lawn mowers. He found contentment in being out in the open of God’s creation. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Nathaniel was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ruby Stroud Green; stepfather, Samuel Stroud; two brothers, Rev. Arthur Stroud, Sr. and Jimmy L. Stroud, Sr.; and one grandchild, Karmen Davis. On Saturday, January 8, 2022, the Lord called his name, and he answered the call. His spirit took flight and went home to rest. His sudden departure has saddened the hearts of his family and many friends, but his memory will live on. Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mrs. Sylvia Radcliff Stroud of Thomaston, GA; one daughter, Ms. Rickesha Nadine Stroud of Thomaston, GA; three children he raised as his own, Brenton Miller and Vedra Radcliff-Folsom both of Thomaston, GA and Tamiko Quiller of Griffin, GA; two grandchildren he raised as his own, Ebonee Radcliff and Kejuan Folsom both of Thomaston, GA; eight other grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Patricia (Charles) Walker of Thomaston, GA, Dr. Kay Stroud (Clarence) Eady of Albany, GA, Mrs. Wanda D. Hillman of Warner Robins, GA, Ms. Jean Daniel of Griffin, GA and Ms. Patricia Johnson of Houston, TX; two brothers, Mr. Dennis (Lola Grace) Stroud, Sr. of Dublin, GA and Mr. Bennie McFarlin of Atlanta, GA; sisters-in-law include, Mrs. Delores Wallette Stroud of Hyattsville, MD, Mrs. Barbara Stroud of Fayetteville, GA, Mrs. Rosalind Parker and Ms. Alicia Radcliff both of Chicago, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Funeral Service were held Thursday, January 13, 2022 1:00P.M. Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church Interment Southview Cemetery
