Mr. Oscar Fletcher was born September 29, 1944, to the late Robert Fletcher and Bessie Davis Fletcher.
He attended school in the Lamar County area and graduated from Booker High School in Barnesville, Georgia, with the Class of 1962. After graduating, Oscar moved to Atlanta, Georgia.
He retired after working 30 years for General Motors. He worked in Georgia at the Doraville Plant, and was later transferred to Youngstown, Ohio to complete his retirement. He was an Assembly Line and Final Body Shop Inspector. Oscar also drove a taxi part-time while living in Atlanta, Georgia.
When he moved to Ohio, he continued to drive neighbors to their appointments, the supermarket, or wherever they needed to go. He was dearly loved by all that met him.
He enjoyed driving people around—the difference was, he drove his own vehicle, not working for someone else’s taxi service.
He had a beautiful smile and was an easy-going person. He liked to watch TV and travel. He was fond of the Pittsburgh Steelers!
Oscar departed this life on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Hospice of the Valley in Youngstown, Ohio.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Bessie Fletcher and his siblings: Robert Fletcher Jr., Lewis Fletcher, James Calvin Fletcher, and sister, Dorothy Fletcher-Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, Undrel Fletcher; his sister, Portia (Cornelius) Lancaster of Columbus, GA; his sister-in-law, Minnie Lee Fletcher; his girlfriend, Donna Burney; her children: Dashayla, Marissa, and Marcus, whom Oscar loved dearly and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, many dear friends, and none other than the "Class of '62."
