Mr. Paul Revere Wimberly was born on May 31, 1949, in Talbotton, Talbot County, Georgia, to the late Mr. James Walton and the late Mrs. Annie Wimberly Howell. At an early age, he joined Bethel Baptist Church in Talbot County. He later moved to Upson County, where he received his formal education in the public schools of Upson County and graduated from Drake High School.
After high school, Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and faithfully served his country for two years. Upon returning home, he entered the workforce and dedicated himself to providing for his family. His final place of employment was with the Thomaston Electrical Department, where he served as a security guard for more than twenty years. Through his commitment and dependability, he earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. He later retired after many years of faithful service.
During his leisure time, Paul enjoyed watching professional wrestling, westerns, game shows, and his favorite television series, In the Heat of the Night. He found pleasure in the simple things in life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Calisha Wimberly, one son, Robert Wimberly and two brothers: Jessie James Walton and James “J.C.” Walton.
On Friday, June 5, 2026, the Lord called his name. He answered the call, and his spirit took flight and entered eternal rest. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Mr. Tony (Cassandra) Chambless and one daughter, Ms. Sharon Raines, both of Thomaston, GA; nine grandchildren: Marion Raines, Eric Wimberly, Sherica Glover, Dakota Wimberly, Nybresha Raines, Taleka Harper, Niclotte Wimberly, Kira Chambless and Marquez Wimberly; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Mr. John Louis Walton of Thomaston, GA; three devoted friends: Mrs. Dorothy Parks, Mrs. Sandra Andrews and Ms. Loretta Grant; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
