Mr. Terry Smith was born on September 14, l964, to the late Mrs. Mattie Bell Pennyman Smith and the late Mr. Israel Smith, Sr. in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. The late Bessie and Red Danielly assisted his parents in his upbringing. At an early age, he joined the Friendship Baptist Church.
He was educated in the public schools of Upson County. He graduated from Upson High School and attended two years at Upson Technical School and earned a certificate in drafting.
On May 31, l994, he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Lekethal Worthy. To this union two children were born. To support his family, he was employed by Yamaha Manufacturing for many years and then later by Dester. He was a loving husband and father to his wife and children.
Terry enjoyed the outdoors. He loved nature, gardening, working with wood, and inventing things to make work and life easier. He loved art and enjoyed painting, playing instruments, one being the guitar, writing poems and writing several books, drafting, and animation. Terry enjoyed visiting the nursing homes and helping others in any way he could. He never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Earnestine Smith and Geraldine Gray; two brothers, Avan Smith and Eddie Smith. On Thursday, May 22, 2025, the Lord called his name. He answered the call and his spirit returned to the Father.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Lekethal Worthy Smith; one daughter, Tanjer Akira Smith and one son, Slaytan Constatine Smith; four sisters, Mrs. Lillie (Rev. Willie H.) Williams, Ms. Gloria Ann Smith, Mrs. Carolyn Giddens and Mrs. Teresa (Rev. Alan) Wyche; two brothers, Mr. Willie Lee (Lewistine) Smith and Mr. Israel Smith, Jr. all of Thomaston, GA; one who grew up as a sister, Ms. Natalie Spinks of Oxford, AL; one aunt, Mrs. Bernice Green of Yatesville, GA; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
