Obituary For Mr. Willie Frank Dumas

Willie Frank Dumas was born on November 1, 1953, in Barnesville, Georgia, to the late Frank and Lucille Dumas. He was educated in the Barnesville public school system, where his love for football began while playing for Booker High School. After graduating from Booker High School, Willie continued his education at Savannah State University.

Willie later met the love of his life, Dorothy James, and the two were united in marriage on June 30, 1979. They shared 33 years of marriage, and from this union one son, Gregory Dumas, was born in 1982.

Willie was a dedicated and hardworking man. He was employed by Aldora Mills and Lamar EMC before beginning a long and honorable career with the Georgia Department of Corrections. After more than 25 years of faithful service, Willie retired, proud to have served as a correctional officer. Shortly before his retirement, he was recognized as an Officer of the Year Finalist.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Lucille Dumas; his sister, Mildred Dumas; and his beloved wife, Dorothy Dumas.

He leaves to mourn his homegoing and cherish his memory: his devoted son, Gregory Dumas; daughter-in-law, Sadia Dumas; two granddaughters, Olivia and Valerie; one brother, John “Sonny” Dumas and sister-in-law Peggy; nieces, Tiffany and Tamika; nephews, Curtis, Dadrick, Jabari, Lewis III, and Marquis; brothers-in-law, Larry (Kim) and Lewis II; sisters-in-law, Emma Jean, Marie, and Esther; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Willie enjoyed fishing, grilling for his family, and watching his favorite teams—the Atlanta Braves, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Georgia Bulldogs. He was a very personable man who had a gift for making everyone he met feel like they had known him for years. Willie Frank Dumas will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
