Obituary For Mrs. Betty Jean Willis-Worthy

Mrs. Betty Jean Worthy was born on February 22, 1948, in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia, to the late Mrs. Lucille Hobbs Willis and the late Mr. Thalmon Willis.

She was educated in the public schools of Upson County and attended Drake High School.

During her working career, Betty was employed at Upson County Hospital, Martha Mills, and later worked as a private duty housekeeper. She was known as a hardworking and caring woman who dedicated herself to helping others.

Betty Jean Worthy was a woman of grace, strength, compassion, and unwavering love. She devoted her life to caring for her family and creating a home filled with warmth, faith, kindness, and love. Her presence brought comfort to everyone around her, and her love became the foundation that held her family together.

She loved the Lord and lived her life with a beautiful and selfless spirit. Betty was known for her wisdom, generosity, and the genuine kindness she extended to others. To her family, she was more than a mother and sister—she was their guiding light, greatest supporter, best friend, and “The Rock” of the family. The love shared between them was unconditional and everlasting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Carol Walker, Deidra Willis, and Darlene Mann; and three brothers, Eddie Floyd Hill, T.L. Willis, and Thalmon Willis, Jr.

On Tuesday, May 18, 2026, the Lord called her name. She answered the call and peacefully entered eternal rest in God’s loving arms.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory two loving sons, Mr. Carl Willis (Leslie Gunn) of Woodbridge, VA, and Mr. Tony (Binkie) Willis of McDonough, GA; nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Constance Latimore of Cleveland, OH, and Mrs. Barbara Wise of Thomaston, GA; three brothers, Mr. Roy Mack of Columbus, GA, and Mr. Donald Willis and Mr. Christopher Lockhart, both of Thomaston, GA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

The family would also like to extend special thanks to the staff of Inova Hospital of Fairfax, VA; US Renal Care of Woodbridge, VA; Eric and Kisha Graham; Nikki Lockamy; and Jean Lockamy for the love, care, and support shown during her illness.

Though Betty is no longer with us physically, her love remains eternal. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
