Life journey began for Bobbie Lou Walton Riggins- Vinson on October 2, 1936, in Meriwether County, GA when she was born to the union of James (Jim) Walton and Carrie Mahone Walton. Both parents preceded her in death. Bobbie Lou received her education in the Upson County School Systems and graduated an Honor Student from Thomaston Training (Drake High) School in 1955. She graduated from the Nursing Program at Upson Technical School and furthered her studies in Gordon College’s Nursing Program. Having a caring and compassionate heart, Bobbie supervised the care and shelter for several disabled and indigent women for six years. She was also an insurance agent for American National Insurance Company. Being taught early about the merits of Salvation and Christianity, Bobbie confessed Christ and joined the Friendship Baptist Church as a teenager. She served in the Choir, taught Sunday School, and was BTU participant. Bobbie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Riley Riggins in August 1958. To this union four children were born. After Riley’s death in 1967, she later married Melvin Vinson. Bobbie moved to Roswell, GA in 1987, where she was employed by Great Oaks Rehabilitation Center. She moved back to Thomaston in 1995. Later she moved to Marietta, GA in 2001 to be with her daughter. She was under watch care at Zion Baptist Church, because, she always attended Church wherever she lived.
