Mrs. Carol Lynette Gray-Montgomery affectionately known as “Nett” was born on June 12, 1950, to her parents Marshall L. Gray and Lula Mae Napier-Gray.

God called his daughter home on Thursday, October 2, 2025, and she transitioned from Earth to Heaven to reside in her final resting place.

On June 12, 1976, “Nett” married Charlie Wes Montgomery, Jr. and together they shared four children: Wesley Montgomery (Tammy), Octavia Montgomery-Smith (Alvin), Christian Gray and Alicia Tigner (Joe). She literally would give her last to her children, as she Guided them and taught them Strength, Courage and Wisdom throughout Life.

She had a soft spot for her nine grandchildren: Korinda Dawson, Markel Montgomery, Devonta Montgomery, Artez Smith, Shaleem Mason, A'Niaya Smith, Adria Wilder, Aziya Wilder and “Deuce” Williams. Her heart grew tremendously with her great-grandson: Jasiah Montgomery. Each child held a very special place near and dear to her heart.

“Nett” was very Protective and Passionate about her four sisters and on brother: Shirley Gray, Marchalin Parks (Robert), Curtis Gray (Deborah), Dianne Cooley (John) and Esther White. She would always look out for them through the good times and the bad times, no matter what, as she would always remember to keep God first.

She enjoyed a lot of conversations and many laughs with her bonus sisters and brother: Bernice Zeek (Simon), Cora Little (Larry), Patricia Montgomery and Sanford Montgomery (Delores). Her bond with them was unbreakable, as they would all endure and navigate through Life learning how to lean on one another.

“Nett” welcomed all of her bonus grandchildren with open arms: Joshua Lewis, Victoria Lewis and Danielle Lewis; she instantly fell in love with her bonus great-granddaughter: Cameron Lewis. She was so excited about her family growing larger.

She has a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends that she absolutely adored. In addition to her increase of loves ones, “Nett” had two neighbors whom eventually became her closest Friends: Veronica Elaine Fischer “Laine” and Scott Passmore, their friendship definitely proved that Love does not Discriminate nor Judge. They all shared the true definition of being Dedicated and Dependable by any means necessary.

She attended school in Lincoln Park where she Loved to play basketball, and she was very good at this sport. Math came easy to her and allowed her to be good with numbers. She worked thirty plus years for Thomaston Textile Mills. Afterwards, she found joy in working at Upson Regional Medical Center. As a young adult she loved going to church, she was a member of Friendship Baptist Church (Rev. Jimmy Lyons) in Thomaston, GA. Later in life, she moved her membership to Towaliga County Line Baptist Church (Rev. Eddie F. Collier) in Jackson, GA where she often attended.

Watching western T.V. shows (Gun Smoke) and Action movies were her absolute favorite things to do. In her quiet time, she found peace in Completing her Word Search and Crossword Puzzle books. “Nett” loved dancing and listening to good music. she naturally would talk to everyone to ensure that she poured Wisdom, Knowledge and Tough Love into each individual. She was a Uniquely Authentic woman that meant what she said and said what she meant in every aspect. “Nett” did not back down nor bite her tongue for no one, this definitely made her an unforgettable soul. Her realness made you respect her, and it also kept you engaged in wanting to hear more of what she had to say.
