Obituary For Mrs. Carrie Lizzie Card

Carrie “Sis” Card was born on April 14, 1932, to the late George Mohorn and Perline Rooks Mohorn.

She was a beloved pillar of the Monticello, Georgia community, dedicating 35 years of service as a housekeeper at Jasper Memorial Hospital. After retiring, she continued her commitment to caring for others by completing training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant. She went on to provide companion care for many years.

Carrie devoted her life to Christ and was a faithful member of White Chapel, which later became Lakey Memorial, until her health began to decline.

She had a deep love for her family and friends. Carrie enjoyed puzzles, music, and was especially known for her delicious sweet potato pies.

She never met a person she wouldn't feed. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Willie B. Card; five children, Jessie Card, Curtis Card, John D. Card, Beverly Battle, and Carrie Card; three brothers, Willie Mohorn, George Mohorn, and Henry “Pete” Mohorn; one sister, Helen Phillips; one sister-in-law, Lorene Mohorn; and one grandchild, Carneal Card.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Willie B. (Stacey) Card III and Lewis (Pauline) Card of Monticello, Georgia; Rochelle (Eddie) Brown of Covington, Georgia; and Darlene (James) Whidby of Mansfield, Georgia. She is also survived by two sisters, Betty Jackson of Eatonton, Georgia and Amy Johnson of Monticello, Georgia; one brother, James C. Mohorn of Pompano Beach, Florida; and one sister-in-law, Sarah Mohorn of Monticello, Georgia. She leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Mrs. Annette Trip and a host of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Carrie “Sis” Card will be remembered for her strength, generosity, faith, and unwavering lover for her family and community.
