At an early age, she joined Flint River Baptist Church in Woodland, GA. She later moved her membership to Friendship Baptist Church after the passing of her mother. She began singing in the choir at the age of twelve years old. She continued singing throughout her adult life. She was a former member of the choir and also served on the Mother's Mission. Serving God was first and foremost in her life.
