Mrs. Dorothy Ann Harper, affectionately known as “Dot,” was born on December 2, 1937 in Barnesville, Lamar County, GA to the parents of the late Luster Allen and the late Zollie Dickey Allen. Dorothy was educated in the Lamar County School System, graduating from Booker High School Class of 1955. At an early age, she confessed her life to Christ and joined the Greater Springhill Baptist Church in Milner, GA. She served on the Mothers Board and was a faithful member until her health began to decline, she was also a member of the Daughters of Barnesville Chapter 465, Order of Eastern Star. Dorothy worked at William Carters Company in Barnesville, GA and retired after 30 years of service. She was united in holy matrimony to Claude “Big Boy” Williams, Sr. and four children were born to this union. He preceded her in death. Dorothy later was united in holy matrimony to Maxie Harper, Jr. He also preceded her in death. Dorothy enjoyed life and spending time with her family. She liked to talk, sing, and tell jokes. She always carried a big smile, and she would encourage people to always do the right thing. On Thursday, June 18, 2020, the Lord determined that it was time for Dorothy to transition from this earthly home to her eternal resting place. She passed away at the Heritage Inn Nursing Home in Barnesville, GA. She was preceded in death by two sons, Claude Williams, Jr. and Glenn Williams; three sisters, Bertha Mae Williams, Hazel Allen, and Eunice Hicks; and three brothers Alfonso Allen, Bobby Lee Allen, and Mason Allen. Those survivors who will forever cherish fond memories of Dorothy include her children, Karen (Lee) Walker of Barnesville, GA and Jacqueline Williams of Lilburn, GA; two grandchildren, Sequia Sparrow of Warner Robins, GA and Glentavious (Reika) Parks of Thomaston, GA; a great-granddaughter, Mariah Moore of Barnesville, GA; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends who miss her dearly.
