Mrs. Gail Edwards Holloway was born in New York, NY, to the late Melver Lee Edwards and the late Paul Frank David Edwards on January 28, 1957.
She attended Benjamin Franklin High School in East
Harlem, New York, opting later to commence her studies by successfully completing the GED program. She later completed her studies by receiving two Associate Degrees in Education. Gail relocated to Barnesville, GA, in 1987 when she met and married Claude Holloway, Jr. To this union, two children were born, Amber and Aaron, who joined an older sister Jasmine. After relocating, she worked many jobs until she found her passion which was working with children. Gail was a dedicated employee of Lamar County schools, retiring after over 19 years of service in 2023. She was a Special Education ParaProfessional and Reading Specialist. She also worked with the after-school program and offered
tutoring to students in need. It was her goal to make sure every student she came in contact with was successful in the classroom. In 2013, she was recognized as Support Service Employee of the year. She was also a faithful volunteer and former Program Assistant with Lamar County 4-H. She also served her community as the former Lamar County Community Services Coordinator. Gail enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family. She was a loving and supportive Nana to her six grandchildren.
On September 13, 2023, she completed her earthly journey, leaving behind many cherished memories for her loved ones. Gail is survived by her spouse, Claude Holloway, Jr.; three children, Jasmine Combs (Broderick), Amber Holloway (Antonio), and Aaron Holloway; five siblings, David Edwards, Kathy Brown, Scott Edwards, Jeffery Edwards (Barbara), and Jessica Edwards; six grandchildren, Arecia Combs, Mia Combs, Jaiden Combs, Aiden Fish, Alana Fish, and Adarian Fish; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
