Mrs. Lois Luvenia Tomlin Franklin was born on September 4, 1945, in Yatesville, Upson County, Georgia, to the late Ms. Lizzie Tomlin Draine.
She was educated in the public schools of Upson County and attended Drake High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball and developed a love for the sport.
As a young adult, Lois was employed at Clearview Nursing Home, now known as Harborview Nursing Home, where she faithfully served for many years.
Lois was baptized by Pastor Zebedee Weston at Bright Light Christian Ministries and also attended New Life Church.
She was the loving mother of five children, whom she adored, and a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Lois found great joy in cooking—especially her well-loved chicken dressing—spending time with her family, attending family gatherings, dancing, and nurturing her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also had a special gift for gardening and truly possessed a green thumb.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Inez Draine and Pat Ivey; and five brothers, Leonard Tomlin, Jerry Tomlin, Bobby Draine, Oliver Battle, and Ronnie Tomlin.
On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, the Lord called her name. She peacefully answered the call and entered into eternal rest.
She leaves to cherish her memory five children: Mr. Cedric Miller, Ms. Cathy Miller, Ms. Paulett Miller, Ms. Mashanda Franklin, and Mr. Richard (Suzanna) Franklin, all of Thomaston, GA; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Ms. Rosa Smith of Thomaston, GA, and Ms. Lovejoy Walker of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Mr. Oscar (Everee) Tomlin of Detroit, MI, and Mr. Claxton “Bo Bo” Draine of Zebulon, GA; one aunt, Mrs. Mable Brown of Thomaston, GA; brother- and sister-in-law, Mr. Calvin Ivey of Thomaston, GA, and Mrs. Denise Tomlin of Detroit, MI; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory.
