Our beloved mother, Lucille Bentley, departed this Earth on September 30, 2021, at home with her loving family at her bedside. Lucille was 91 years old and born on March 15,1930 in Butler, Georgia to the late Anna Hill-Warner and Horace Gilbert. Although she, herself, had very little formal education, she understood the value of a strong work ethic and ensured that all of her children received a quality education. At a very young age, Lucille became a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, in Barnesville, Georgia and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior. She later married Charlie Bentley and to this union five children were born. In the 1960’s the entire family moved to Connecticut in search of opportunity and advancement. There she was able to find steady domestic work and often even worked two full-time jobs to provide an easier pathway for her children than she herself had had growing up. Eventually, she decided to return to Atlanta, Georgia in order to be closer to her own mother and sister. Lucille was an excellent cook. She truly enjoyed cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. The main ingredient in each meal was love. Lucille was a fun-loving person who always looked for the best in people. She never met a stranger, and her home was open to all. In addition to playing cards, watching television, especially Tyler Perry movies (Madea was on of her favorite characters), she really enjoyed visiting the casino, knitting and keeping a beautiful yard full of colorful flowers that was the envy of the neighborhood. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Hill -Warner and Horace Gilbert, her husband, Charlie Bentley Senior, son Bennie Bentley (Debra) daughter, Doris Bentley (Nick) grandsons, Michael and Wayne Bentley, and great granddaughter, Shayika Bentley. Lucille leaves to cherish her memory her son, Charlie Bentley (Jeanella); daughters, Marion and Evelyn Bentley and Lawrence Tilghman (Frances) and Johnny De Vone; eleven grandchildren; Cassandra, Tynsha, Monique, Thashia, Tarace, Demetrius, Chantel, Charles, Chanella, Charoy and Donte, as well as twenty-three great grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren and a host of nephews, cousins, family members, friends and extremely loving nieces that cared for her up until the end. The family of Lucille Bentley wishes to acknowledge the heartfelt gratitude for the numerous acts of love and sympathy extended to us during our time of bereavement. May God bestow His richest blessing upon each and every one of you. Funeral Service was held at Trice Funeral Home Chapel Interment King Hill’s Cemetery Culloden, GA
