Obituary For Mrs. Marian Elaine Searcy Graddick

Mrs. Marian Elaine Searcy Graddick was born to the parents of the late Mrs. Georgia Ann Walker Searcy and the late Mr. Robert Edward Lee Searcy on October 16, 1942, in Thomaston, Upson County, GA. Marian and Mr. James D. Graddick were united in holy matrimony on December 25, 1963, and they were married for 62 years. To this union two children were born. One of their children, Cheryl Elaine Graddick, preceded her in death. She attended school in the Upson County School System and graduated from Drake High School with the Class of 1960. Marian was a faithful and devoted member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a deaconess, EverReady Club and Hospitality Committee, and she was a former member of the Senior Choir. She loved her church and worked tirelessly, assuming the responsibility of a faithful church member. She loved her family dearly-she loved traveling, cooking, and talking on the phone with her family and friends. Marian retired from the William Carter Company after 34 years of Employment.

Marian was preceded in death by her parents: Mrs. Georgia Ann Walker Searcy and Mr. Robert Edward Lee Searcy one daughter: Cheryl Elaine Graddick; her Mother and Father-in-Law: Lillian Battle Graddick and Jordan “Jack” Graddick; Brothers: Willie Cleve Searcy, Archie Searcy and James A. Searcy; Sisters and Brothers in Law: Paul Sutton, Dorothy “Pat” Searcy, Mildred Graddick Rutherford, Winfred Graddick, Earnestine Graddick Zellner, Evelyn Graddick Webb, Otis Jordan; a niece: Paula Sutton James and a nephew: James Anthony Searcy, Jr. On Thursday, September 18, 2025, God Sent his angel and told Marian that everything was ready for her. Her spirit took flight, and she went home to rest from labor.
