Scripture: Matthew 25:21 (KJV)
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the
joy of thy Lord."
This scripture beautifully reflects Mattie Mosley’s life of humble service, faithfulness, and devotion to God.
Mattie Ruth Lewis Mosley was born in Barnesville, Georgia, to the late Robert Lewis and Mollie Sutton Lewis. She lived a life of faith, love, and service. A devoted servant of God, she found her greatest joy in worship, caring for her family, and serving her church and community with humility and grace. Her unwavering faith and gentle spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an enduring legacy of kindness and devotion.
After graduating from Booker High School in Barnesville, Georgia, Mattie attended Tennessee State in Nashville, Tennessee, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She pledged
Sigma Gammon Rho Sorority, Inc., where she worked hard to lead positive change to help uplift the community through education, leadership, health awareness, and service for women and their
families.
Mattie was privileged to have had several satisfying careers. She retired from Grady Health System, Atlanta Public School System, and Georgia Department of Labor.
Mattie’s life was a testament of faith and selflessness, always putting the needs of others before her own. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
She was a loving mother to her son, Markus Burrell, whom she considered her greatest blessing and joy. She also leaves behind cherished cousins, including Dr. Janice Moore-English, Jewell Foster-Moore, Evelyn Oneal-Bentley, Rev. John Sutton, and Songia Womble, a devoted caretaker and dear friend, along with many more loved ones who held a special place in her heart.
