Mrs. Mildred Lockhart Middlebrooks was born October 7, 1946, to the late Mrs. Jennie Mae Russell Lockhart and the late Mr. Hollis Lockhart in Butler, Taylor County, Georgia. She attended public school in the Taylor County School System and graduated from high school. At an early age, she joined the Antioch Baptist Church. Mildred joined the Pine Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor W.L. Smith after moving to Thomaston. She was the mother of two sons. To support her family, she was employed by Carter’s Mills for over twenty years. Mildred loved going to church and hearing the preached word. She served under Pastor Mary Worthy at the Reviving Church of God and lastly under Pastor Robert Howell at the Springhill Community Baptist Church. She was a faithful Usher and served as a mother in the church at Springhill Community Baptist Church, During her leisure time, she enjoyed fishing, going to church, sewing, and family gatherings. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Hollis Lockhart two sisters, Ruby Caldwell and Mattie Hammond; two brothers, Mr. Hollis Lockhart, Jr. and Milton Lockhart. On December 25, 2020 the Lord called her name, she answered and went home to rest.
Mildred leaves to cherish her memory on son, Mr. Raymond Harris of Thomaston, GA ; four sisters, Mrs. Tina (George) Hamington, and Minister Susan(Herman) Harris both of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Mary Ward of LaGrange, GA and Ms. Harriet Lockhart of Butler, GA; two brothers, Mr. Hilry Lockhart of Jonesboro, GA and Mr. Horace Lockhart of Thomaston, GA; three grandchildren, Ms. Dayauna Harris Stadler of San Diego, CA, Sylvia Grace Harris of St. Mary GA, and Eldred Jamal King of Thomaston, GA, and ten great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends whom all will miss her dearly.
