Mrs. Retina Telouis Howell Hughley was born on March 14, 1976, in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia, to Mrs. Bonnie McCoy Howell and Mr. Johnny Louis Howell. She received her education in the public schools of Upson County and graduated from Upson-Lee High School with the Class of 1994. She furthered her education by attending classes at Southern Crescent.
In 2007, Retina met Mr. Gregory Hughley, and on October 12, 2007, they were united in marriage. Together, they shared a loving relationship that spanned over eighteen years. They took their marriage vows seriously, standing by one another lovingly and faithfully through sickness and health. Retina was employed by U-Haul in sales. She was the devoted mother of two sons and lovingly embraced Gregory’s two children as her own.
Retina enjoyed going to church and actively participated in the Women’s Ministry before her health declined. She loved making baskets for her children, shopping for the latest fashions, and spending quiet time at home with those she loved.
She was preceded in death by one aunt, Mrs. Margie Chaney and one uncle Mr. Eddie Frank Drains. On Saturday, May 2, 2026, the Lord called her name. She answered the call, and her spirit took flight and returned to the Heavenly Father.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving husband, Mr. Gregory Terrell Hughley; her parents, Mr. Johnny Louis and Mrs. Bonnie Howell; two sons, Mr. Jamerio Durham and Mr. Gregory Terrell Hughley, Jr.; two bonus daughters, Ms. Shakiea Hughley and Ms. Sharika Hughley, both of Griffin, GA; four grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Johnette Hughley of Thomaston, GA; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Mr. Stacey (Vanessa) Hughley, Mr. Anthony (Glenda) Hughley, and Mr. Roderick (Kim) Gilbert, all of Thomaston, GA; aunts and uncles, Mrs. Jeanette Holt, Mr. Arthur Alsobrooks, Mrs. Shirley Brooks, and Mrs. Mildred Grantling, all of Thomaston, GA, and Mr. George (Lugene) Howell, Mrs. Mary Alexander, and Mr. Willie James Howell, all of Atlanta, GA; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory forever.
