Ms. Doris Deloris Harrell was born on September 18, 1953 to the late Mrs. Mary Ethel Harrell Alford and the late Mr. George Newsome in Lumpkin, Stewart County, Georgia. She received her education in the Stewart County School System and graduated from Lumpkin High Industrial School. Doris was a loving and devoted mother of two children, Clarence and April. To support her children, she was employed by the Thomaston-Upson County Recreation Department. She was an Art Teacher and taught Ceramic at the Civic Center. She later earned her Certified Nursing Certificate and eventually began her employment with the Providence Nursing Home. She enjoyed her work and loved taking care of the patients. Doris knew she needed a savior. She confessed her belief in Christ and joined the Springfield Missionary Baptist Church. During her leisure time, Doris enjoyed cooking, working her ceramics, reading books, taking care of her animals, dancing, working her jig-saw puzzles, fishing, and spending time with her family. Doris was preceded in death by her parents. On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, the Lord called her home from labor to reward. Now cometh rest for her spirit. No more sickness, no more pain and no more sorrow. Doris leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Mr. Clarence Harrell of Thomaston, GA and Ms. April Chamika Holmes of Forest Park, GA; an adopted son, Mr. Mark Walker of Grand Rapids, MI; seven siblings, Mrs. Susie (Alvin) Harps of Jonesboro, GA, Mr. Elijah Darden, Jr. of Thomaston, GA, Mrs. Mary (Deloach) Ponder of Hampton, GA, Ms. Mary Julia Alford, Ms. Hazel Alford, Mr. Timothy Lee (Adella) Alford, and Mr. Christopher Bernard Alford all of Thomaston, GA; a devoted friend, Ms. Rose Daniel of Columbus, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
