Mrs. Geneva Blackmon Lawrence was born on December 26, 1944, in Barnesville, Lamar County, Georgia. She was the eldest of three children born to the late Jessie Mae Blackmon and Woodrow Wilson.
Geneva received her education through the Lamar County School System and attended the Booker School. She later graduated from the Booker High School graduating class. At an early age, she confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and united with Greater Springhill Missionary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of the late Rev. Hunter.
Geneva was a dedicated and hardworking woman who was employed for many years as an assembly worker in the automotive parts industry at Nacom Industries. She faithfully served in various ministries within the church, including the Usher Ministry, and found great joy in working with and encouraging young people. She found great joy in studying and reading her bible.
On February 14, 2000, Geneva married the love of her life, Mr. Robert Lee Lawrence. Together they shared fourteen wonderful years of marriage until his passing. Alongside her husband, she united with New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Releford, where she continued to worship and serve faithfully.
Geneva was known for her quiet spirit, kind heart, and wonderful sense of humor. Although she had no children of her own, she dearly loved her nieces and nephews, affectionately calling them her "darling angels." She was always willing to lend a helping hand whenever needed and treasured every opportunity to spend time with her family. She especially enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and completing word search books, often spending countless hours enjoying these pastimes alongside her beloved mother.
On June 26, 2026, Geneva peacefully transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home, where she joined the angels in eternal rest.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her sister, Ms. Virginia Wilson of Milner, Georgia; her brothers, Mr. Robert Wilson of Marietta, Georgia, and Mr. Kenneth (LaDeidre) Wilson, Sr. of Crossville, Tennessee; her beloved nieces and nephews, whom she lovingly called her angels: KaiNesha Wilson, Leslie Wilson, Saray Hood, Wendell Issac, Robbie Wilson, Ayshar Wilson, Arsel Wilson, Christopher Penn, and Kenneth Woodrow Wilson II; her praying partner, Xzavier Wilson; sister-in-law, Carolin Lawrence.
She also leaves to cherish her memory her bonus children: Mrs. Lynn (Matthew) Ogletree, Mr. Jason (Janna) Lawrence, and Mr. Phillip (Lisa) Lawrence; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a host of cousins; and many devoted friends whose lives were blessed by her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love.
Though Geneva has departed this earthly life, her gentle spirit, compassionate heart, and legacy of love will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
"Well done, thou good and faithful servant... enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." — Matthew 25:23
