Mr. Oatis Allen Middlebrooks was born December 2, l951, to the late Mrs. Mattie Mae Stephen Middlebrooks and the late Mr. Solomon Jordan, Jr. in Thomaston, Upson County, Georgia. He attended public school in Upson County and graduated from Drake High School.
Like most men during his era, he found work after high school. He found employment with Thomaston Mills. He was employed as long as they were in operation and he was able to work. He also worked at Keadle Lumber Company for a period of time.
He later moved to Columbus, GA, and eventually moved to Alabama. In 2017, he met Dorothy Morgan. On June 18, 2017, they were married and shared almost eight years together. On November 5, 2017, he joined the Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Salem, AL. He would often attend Mount Zion Baptist Church in Yatesville, GA, during his adult life and whenever he came home to visit. He loved hearing the preached word of God.
During his early years, he enjoyed taking care of his family. Oatis made many sacrifices to take care of his nieces and nephews after the passing of his sister. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, grilling, fishing and watching and playing basketball.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nita Stephens. On Thursday, March 27, 2025, the Lord called his name. He answered the call and his spirit took flight and returned to the Heavenly Father.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Morgan Middlebrooks of Smith Station, AL; one brother, Mr. Johnny Jordan of Thomaston, GA; five step-children also survive; nieces and nephews include, Juan Marquez of Montgomery, AL, Shanetta Butler of Griffin, GA, Keneil Butler of Thomaston, GA and Shamone Stephens of Atlanta, GA; great-nieces and great-nephews, Sharenda Walker of McDonough, GA, Mikelya Butler and Aheem Butler both of Griffin, GA, Jazjuan Marquez, Kenize Butler, Jakez Butler, Ava Butler all of Thomaston, GA, Darius Stephens, Waltrel Wallace and Wamica Wallace all of Barnesville, GA; a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
