Willie Floyd Green, Jr. was born on August 16, 1958- affectionately known as "Bug" or "Uncle Bug, to the late Reverend Willie Floyd Green, Sr. and Fannie Jane Smith Young. He was the 2nd eldest of 6 children.

Willie was called home to glory on September 4, 2024. Willie attended Lamar County High School, Barnesville, GA up until 10th grade and moved to Chicago at the age of 14 to complete high school at Englewood High School, Chicago, IL. Willie went further in his education as he attended Kennedy King College, Chicago, IL, Central Y College, Chicago, IL, Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College, Hanover NH and Georgia State College for Theology Studies, Atlanta, GA.

Willie received Christ at a very early age; of 12 he represented the West Mount Sinai Baptist Church at the Sunday School Convention. He spoke about this often, he was so proud that he studied and learned the bible for himself and was able to go teach about it. Willie was called by God at a very young age to preach the word. Before he was ordained to become the anointed pastor that he was, he had the pleasure to serve under some great spiritual leaders that mentored him and equipped him for his calling to reach souls. He served under Pastor B.C. Clayton (New Caanan Land Baptist Church, Chicago, IL), and Dr. Charles W. Baker (Zion Temple Missionary Baptist Church, Chicago, IL).

Willie held positions as a Manager for Joseph Shoe Salon (Chicago, IL). He also was a top selling performer at various car dealerships; he worked alongside the great late Hank Aaron Sr and his son Hank Aaron Jr. at the dealership here in Georgia.

Willie was called into the Gospel preaching ministry and was licensed. August 16, 1983, after serving under Dr. Oscar D. Webster as an Assistant Pastor, he was ordained April 18,1987. He served as Pastor of St. Timothy Baptist Church of Yatesville,GA for 6 years. During this Pastorate, he was called to Pastor New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Milledgeville, GA for 5 years. He received the calling at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, IL for 7 years. When Willie returned home to Georgia he became the Pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church of Juliette, GA (9 years) as well as Calvary Baptist Church in Manchester, GA (3years). Willie was called home to glory on September 4, 2024. In addition to preaching, before retiring due to illness, Willie was the Vice President of Inter-City Supply Company, Inc. (Chicago, IL.)

Willie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Charlene Felters on February 14, 2014, in Chicago, IL they were married for 10 1/2 years. Although they didn't conceive any children together, they shared 8 children collectively between them both, from previous relationships.

Willie loved his family! He loved talking with them, getting together for family dinners, going to games together, and teasing all of them with his humor. Willie also loved talking with his mom, especially about God! He would often talk on the phone with her about a sermon he'd preached or just to see how her day was going. Willie loved to preach and teach God's word as often as he could, that was truly his favorite thing to do. He had a great love for children; three things that you were sure to catch him doing (especially on a Friday) was attend football, basketball, and occasionally baseball games. He loved supporting his nieces & nephews and any kid playing a sport; often the family would travel over 2 hours just to watch a game with him! If you knew him, you knew he loved the Chicago Bears; they were his favorite NFL team. He would always call his brother Chris to talk about the good plays and bad calls from the referees during the game.

He loved to hate the Atlanta Falcons just so he could call to mess with some of his friends and family that were die hard Falcons Fans. He would joke with his wife when they would lose and call one of his friends and say, “watch they don't answer” and he would call the next one until he could get one on the phone to mess with them; it would tickle him so much. He loved cracking jokes and messing with people playfully everywhere he went. He had a way about him that lit up every room he walked into. He could go into a restaurant or store and strike up conversations with strangers and they were always receptive. Fishing and going to the Flee Markets were among other things he enjoyed. He was unique and known just about everywhere he went, he always kept the same humor, smile, demeanor, playfulness and coolness. Most importantly, he loved God, he knew God for himself and wanted to make sure he told as many people as possible about him. He didn't want anyone left behind; he wanted everyone to be saved.
