SHARA ANN THURMAN -FLETCHER, daughter of the late Wynell Thurman and the late Johnny “Honey Bunch’ Zellner, was born on March 26, 1959, in Barnesville Georgia. She served her earthly assignment well and was able to retire to embark on her heavenly assignment on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at 9:46 a.m. After dating for ten years, on December 16,1984, she married her high school sweetheart, Lonnie Fletcher, and from this union two children were born. At an early age, Shara joined White’s Chapel CME Church, but after marriage joined her spouse and became a member of First Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia, where she served as a Deaconess. In 1976, Shara graduated from Lamar County High School, receiving a full basketball scholarship to Albany State University. In lieu of capitalizing on her athletic abilities, she decided to pursue the Accounting and Finance route at Upson Technical College and landed her first corporate job at Thomaston Mills. Twenty-nine years later, the mill closed, and she shifted her career to juvenile justice. After being employed with the Spalding County Juvenile Court for twelve years, she retired, due to health conditions. Shara had an unmatched passion for people (especially youth) and planning/ coordinating events, She implemented, coordinated, and hosted several inaugural events, such as women’s ministries at local churches, fashion shows, youth and community developments trips, biblical plays, non-profit association events, and countless other events that still and will continue to echo the imprint she left. While harnessing her passions, motivational and spiritual speaking engagements soon began to knock at her door, and she answered obediently. In 2006, she became the First Lady of Orange Grove Baptist Church in Culloden, Georgia. Over the last fifteen years, her efforts were immeasurable and contributed to the church’s spiritual and financial growth. She was considered as their very own visionary, due to her unique visions, thoughts, and ideas.

She was preceded in death by: her mother, Wynell Thurman, father, Johnny Zellner, and her brother, Kenneth Thurman She leaves a legacy of strength, love, and grace that shall live on in the hearts of: her husband, Pastor Lonnie B. Fletcher, her children, Lonnie Dion Fletcher (RhoShawanda), and Tara La’Sha Fletcher (Terrance); three grandchildren, Diondria Labre Fletcher, Isaiah Fletcher, and Trinity Germany; her brother. James Thurman; sister Jeanette Thurman; brother-in-law, Gregory Fletcher; sister-in-law, Susie Thurman; two nieces, TaSheika Thurman and Sierra Sullivan(Bruce); nephews, Marcus Fletcher and Michael Fletcher; and a host of cousins. Because she genuinely embodied the “mother to all” mentality, she also leaves behind a host of unofficial sons and daughters. She was the pillar of honor, strength, and love who inspired her family and all those she encountered to live a God-filled life. Her love for others reached many generations, young and old alike. There are many virtuous women, but Shara Fletcher excelled them all. “Her last moments were in the presence of her high school sweetheart and immediately after having her normal daily chat with her son and ending with her daughter.
