Mary Catherine Langston
Mary Catherine Langston, lovingly known as “Cathie” went home to be with the Lord on August 26, 2025. She was born June 24, 1949, in Maryville, Tennessee to the late Ulysses and Margaret Love.
Cathie’s life was a reflection of her deep faith and devotion to God. She loved serving the Lord with all of her heart, and those who knew her could always feel the warmth of her spirit. She was a gifted lover of music, with a voice that now the heavens are enjoying. Not only did she have a passion for music, but she also had a passion for teaching. She believed in shaping the lives of countless children. Before retiring, Cathie dedicated over 25 years as a preschool teacher for both KCD Child care and the YMCA Prime Time. Her legacy as a teacher has continued to inspire those whose lives she touched.
Proceeded in death by her husband; Charles Langston Sr. Grandchildren: Lacresha Carter and Cholly “CJ” Harris. Siblings: Dorothy, Fred, Frank, Robert, Lennie, Joe, William, Ray, Ralph, and Maggie Ellen. Stepson: Charles Langston Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories to her Daughter: LaTeshia (Donnie) Hall, Son, Charles Langston III.
Grandchildren: Myleshia, Phylisha, LaDaydren, Tyreese, Isabella, Chy’Shun, O’Tavais, Choleigh, Lakyra, I’zaiah, Donnie (DJ), D’rron, Dijon, and Ai’Yaunah.
Great Grandchildren: Ryjon, DaMyeron, Dasiya, Marleah, Marshay, Adrianne, Kalee, Da’mariyah, Khristian, Kenzie, Ry’majah, Kasirah, Ci’Miya, Raelynn, Amir, Lanise, Meilani, and Amari.
Siblings: Sister: Lucy (Rick) Creel, Brother: Herman (Marcie) Love. Stepchildren: Brenda, Booker T. Langston, Wanda and Debbie.
God Children: Brad Crabtree and Candy Roysdon. Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Best Friends: Annette Parks, Wanda McCleary Gillespie, Margaret Robinson, Diane and George Moore, and Derick Tate to name few.
Special thanks to Island Home Park Health and Rehabilitation Center, and the University of TN Hospital, Palliative Care Team.
There will be a viewing on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 11-12:00 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary.
The final resting place will be held at the Tennessee State Veterans (Lyons View) at 1:00 p.m.
