IDA COSBY JACKSON, 62, of Greensboro, GA, passed on to the Ancestral Plain on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. She was born to the late Henry L. Asbury and Ruth Cosby Asbury, on September 27, 1958, in Greensboro, GA. Miss Ida graduated from Greene County High School in 1976 and received a Bachelors in Education from then Clark College, now known as the Illustrious Clark Atlanta University, in 1980. She married United States Army Sergeant Raymond B. Jackson in 1979. In love, they lived together in College Park, GA, and briefly in Copperas Cove, TX, before relocating to Greensboro, GA, where the sweethearts grew up. Ida was an elementary and middle school teacher until she decided to balance her health in the summer of 2020.
Mrs. Jackson was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students and children from several types of communities. In 2018, she founded the Globe Trotters World Education Program and worked directly with the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, GA. She received many honors for her work via sponsorships and scholarships to provide funding for all children. The State of Georgia Educator has taught thousands of children throughout her 40-year career, spanning over generations of families in several districts. Her fine arts programming reached Hancock County, Taliaferro County, Newton County, Greene County, and Putnam County.
The Diva was a second-generation legacy and an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She was a proud member of Historic Springfield Baptist Church. She wrote more than 200 articles for the Herald-Journal in Greensboro, GA, in which she recorded the history of the church as a contribution to her faith in GOD. Further, she gave much love and time to children in the Greensboro area through her Magnificent Monday, Terrific Tuesday, and Wonderful Wednesday programming. Her acts of service also extended to front-line workers and public service officials through monthly dinner sponsorships. Though she did much more, there will never be enough ink or paper that can truly capture all of her good deeds. She loved to travel and spent celebratory times in her Johns Creek home, "The Villa."
She loved her children with her husband throughout her lifetime with no limitations. Ida is survived by her husband, Raymond B. Jackson, and her four children: Ryan B. Jackson, Cliff R. Jackson, Ian Z.C. Jackson, and Lyrric M.R. Jackson. She is also survived by her Daughter-in-Law, Tia Jackson, and her two grandchildren, Zian C. Jackson and Nia G. Jackson.

For you Ida and the Jackson Family she was a wonderful, talented woman. God Bless.
The day I met Ms. Jackson, I understood why my Cliff and Lyric are such wonderful, amazing human beings. Ms. Jackson was an inspiring, generous, and passionate educator. She embodied the kind of intelligence and sensitivity we all hope and pray for in our classrooms. The world will surely miss her dearly, but her spirit lives on in her family as well as all the lives she touched that were made richer for her presence. God Bless the Jackson Family. Wishing you peace and comfort in the days ahead. Therese Aun
