I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course; I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up a crown for my righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. ~ 2 Timothy : 7-8 Mother Luberta Lousie Howard Mixon was born April 17, 1927, in Jackson, Mississippi to Frank and Beatrice Howard, who proceeded her in death. Mother Mixon attended Smith Robinson Elementary School, Lanier Junior/Senior High School (833), graduating June of 1946. Later in life, Mother Mixon and her family moved from West Jackson and united with Cade Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. J.D. Hayden. To this union, three daughters were born Betty, Jean and Odessa. Mother Mixon worked at Jackson Steam Laundry and decided that it was not for her. She began taking night classes and studying to become a nurse. After successful completion, Mother Mixon secured a job as a licensed practical nurse with Baptist Medical Associates. She worked in the same family clinic for 45 years. On August 11, 2022, Mother Mixon’s earthly journey ended, as she was called to glory to be one of God’s angels in heaven. I meet Mrs. Luberta in 1991, at JMA. I was a medical assistant student and she instilled great morals within me. She made sure I became a registered voter. I give God all the glory for this beautiful lady and all I was blessed to learn from her. She would even mail me cards and pictures of her family after she & I no longer worked together. I yet carry her values she taught me and I will always be grateful for Ms. Lu!
I extend my heartfelt condolences to her entire family.
