Obituary For James Calvin "Chico" Macon, Jr.
MR. JAMES CALVIN βCHICOβ MACON, JR. - Age 82, of Dalton, GA passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026. He was born February 19, 1944 to his late parents, James Calvin Macon, Sr. and Martha Hunt Macon. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Lounette Tanner Macon; brother, Lamar Macon; sister, Rosetta White; grandmothers, Ruth King and Kate Pender; and great grandmother, Odie Macon.
James graduated Emery Street School Class of 1964. He retired from Collins & Aikman after 22 years of employment. James, affectionately known as βChicoβ to his family and friends, enjoyed watching the news, basketball, boxing, as well as other sports, fishing, and spending time with his beloved family.
Those left to cherish James' memories are his beloved children, Maretta Denene (Anthony Weaver) Macon, Eric Toven Macon, Antonio Maurice (Marie) Macon, Bernard (Porsche) Ragland; grandchildren, Jeremy Macon, Justen Macon, Jalyn Macon, Brandi (Keanu) Hoyes, Tyrese Brahnam, Anya Womack, Oddysee Ragland, Calviaunna Ragland, and J'lyn Ragland, Tyree Ragland, and Tanner grandchildren; great grandchildren, Addison Macon, Jordan Macon, Beau Hoyes, Amari Pridgett, and Andre Pridgett; sister, Katie Ruth Wilkey; sister-in-law, Tennie Hixson; special nephews, Charles Neal, Bryant Macon, and Gary Love; special niece, Cynthia Macon; special cousins, Iva Lee Macon, Patsy McDade, Keysia Robbs, Deborah Macon; special friend and mother of his children; Jane Taylor Jones; caregivers, Caron Cobb, Warren White, and Derrick Tinson; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Willis Funeral Home with Bishop Nicky P. Starling, Eulogist. His remains will lie in state on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour. Interment; West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, GA.

Chico always had a smile for me no matter what he was going through! I would flip my hair up and tell him let's go Chico suave! Get up out of that chair and let's dance! He would head in one direction and I would act lick we was doing the electric slide! We always had a good time! No matter what was going on in the world I would have a smile on my face leaving! I would cook and clean but spending time with my friend and making sure he was ok was all I cared about! I will never see a honey bun or tootsie pop and not see that smile! Chico you will be missed! Family he loves each and every one of you and no worries your secretes we will take to our graves! Thank you for allowing me to be apart of your/ his lives.Truly Caron and Prince, also Marlee Dane!
