Mrs. Dannie Griffin was born April 5, 1928 to the late Joe and Arlena Rogers of Carthage, Mississippi. She was one of fourteen children born to Joe and Arlena. She attended school in the Leake County School System. She later obtained her GED and attended Mississippi Valley State College in Itta Bena, Mississippi where she received a certificate in Early Childhood Development. She was employed with the Ofahoma Headstart program as a Trainee and Resource Teacher for seventeen years.
Mother Griffin was united in marriage to the late Thomas Griffin who preceded her in death. She and her husband produced eight children, four boys ans four girls. Three children preceded her in death. She leaves three sons and two daughters, James, Thomas Luvell, Darrell, Sandra and Ruth (Willie). She also valued her grandchildren, Tracy (Michelle), Maurice (Ruth), Toya, Nadia, Chandra, Sheena, and Jamal. Moreover, she adored her great grandchildren, Tyler, Tanesha, Javin, Jeremiah, Hannah, Samantha, Raven, Lauren, James, Jeremy, Sigourney, Jaitin, and Jace. She affectionately called Mo-Wa (mother) by her children and she knew that meant mother/mama!
Although she loved her children and their off springs unconditionally, she did not discriminate against other children in the community of far off. She demonstrated concern, compassion, and love and this was all inclusive, i.e., nieces, nephews, neighbors, and others. She served as a mother in a godly manner. She was well known in the community for her selfless acts of kindness and her love for Jesus. If you met her, she would pray and make sure you knew something about Jesus. She prayed unceasing for many because she was indeed a child of God. She and her husband were founders of Faith and Deliverance Apostolic Church in Carthage, Mississippi.
Mother Griffin loved spending time listening to old sermons and conducting her phone ministry. Ninety-five years of life was indeed a gift from God. She was a role model for her community and she left some difficult shoes to fill. Prior to her departure on June 6, 2023, she had a few visits from neighbors, friends, and the report from all were consistent with her life style. She stayed the course praying or having others pray. One person reported they had never met her in person but the impact she had on her life was impeccable. Rest in peace Mo-Wa! Rest in peace.

Shiesha Rucker planted 5 trees in memory of Dannie Rogers Griffin . - June 09, 2023
I first met sister Danny when I was working a prayer line for Tommy Bates Ministries in Independence Kentucky. I fell in love with her immediately and offered her my home phone number because whenever she needed prayer I wanted to be available for her. I shared very personal things with Sister Dannie, one being my son and daughter in law were expecting a baby that the doctor said had something wrong and would never live. Sister Dannie prayed with me that day and encouraged me to leave it in the Lord's hands. Today Feb 7th 2025 I came across the scripture that Sister Dannie shared with me to make me feel better. Which resulted in me googling her name and the state I knew she lived in to find this obituary. The scripture she gave me was Psalms. 27:13 - 14 and she had quoted it like it was right in front of her not missing a word. V 13 I had fainted unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. V 14 Wait on the Lord and be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart. Wait, I say on the Lord. I sure wish I could have been there the day you celebrated her going home.💕 I send my love to her children I was blessed to speak to on the phone. James, Ruth and one more daughter I can't remember
The family of Mother Griffin acknowledges all who performed different services during our time of bereavement. This may have taken place as a prayer, call, visit, card, email, text, floral arrangement, etc. We do not take anything for granted but we want to express our honest and heart felt appreciation. May the Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26 NKJV
