Obituary For Gregory Cassady

Gregory ‘Greg’ Pennell Cassady entered into eternal peace on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at UNC Hospital-Palliative Care Center in Chapel Hill, NC at the age of 55. Greg was born to Elmer Ree and Mary Ruth Brady Cassady on November 11, 1961 in Piney Ridge, NC and later he called Durham, NC home. He graduated from Southwestern Randolph High School in 1980 and furthered his education by attending UNC Chapel Hill and received a Bachelors in Psychology; as well as earned a Nursing degree at Watts Nursing School. Greg had a contagious spirit and one who loved God. As a result of his generosity and pleasant personality, he was loved and appreciated by many. He loved to learn and teach others. Greg enjoyed traveling and most importantly he spent 21+ years of his life doing what he was most passionate about which is caring for others in need. He leaves cherished memories to: three loving sisters, Cleata Brady and Brenda Cassady of Asheboro, NC and Amy Cassady of Winston-Salem, NC; five brothers, George ‘Ray’ and Kelvin Cassady of Piney Ridge, NC, Jerald (Cora) and Dennis (Betty) Cassady of Asheboro, NC, Phillip Cassady (preceded him in death); Goddaughters, Melody Goldston of Siler City NC and Jessica Chmielewski of Durham, NC, and also has a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends that loved him. Memorial service on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Piney Ridge United Methodist Church, 4926 Piney Ridge Church Rd., Seagrove, NC 27341 Alternate service on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 10:00 am at Imani Metropolitan Community Church, 3602 C- View St. Durham, NC 27713
