Durham Board of Elections sent America the Beautiful for Roosevelt Lipscomb, Jr. - September 20, 2023
Our sincerest condolences to your family. Roosevelt was a staple in the election community, and we appreciate his many years of service.
My daddy, Rufus, and Roosevelt were the best of friends for so many years. I can see them now embracing each other with a big welcome! They worked together at Liggett & Myers and loved bowling. On weekends, we would travel to Greensboro with Roosevelt to bowl, before Durham had their own bowling lanes. I have nothing but beautiful memories of Roosevelt, and the kindness he has always showed our family. Sorry, I could not be at the service, but my thoughts and prayers are with you. Love, Gilda Day

Foremost, I extend precious sympathies to the family. I met Mr. Roosevelt at Shepard Magnet School when he volunteered for the Durham Board of Elections. I got in line to vote and I was out of breath and he made me laugh. I then found out we were neighbors. I went on one of his trips and invited my family and they immediately fell in love with him. We cooked for him during and after COVID and checked in on him always. I pass his house every day coming home. He will be truly missed. As he would say "Everybody Is Somebody On My Trips." He's definitely an Angel in Heaven. We'll miss you dearly. - The Herrings

Mr. Roosevelt Lipscomb was a man of distinction, integrity, honor, pride, respect, business, fun, and dressed to impress. If it had not been for him recognizing my musical talent, I would not have experienced some wonderful entertainment opportunities. I'm better to have known him. He will be truly missed by his biological, St. John's Church and Durham community families. Sorrowfully submitted from the Hannah and Murphy families.
