I am deeply saddened by the loss of my childhood friend and classmate. Still remember you showing up at Brinson Memorial Elementary and us playing Pop Warner football together. We became brothers and continued down a path of friendship that we both cherished together. I was so proud to see how you became a man of God how you were able to favorably impact the lives of many. Because of this, your spirit will live on and we will always remember your life long contributions and accolades. We know you're resting at the feet of the father.

He actually cared about the youth, not just the track stars, but the youth. The youth had mad respect for "Big Dave". He will truly be missed. The spiritual conversations/challenges we had will never be forgotten. I appreciate your advice through all of them. My heartfelt condolences to the family of the remarkable, humbled, and caring David Simpson also known as Big Dave. The impact he had on the youth over many years, the way he loved his children, grandchildren, and family in general says a lot about the man he was. He will truly be missed and forever loved/remembered for the great man he was. The legacy of love he left behind surely speaks for him. It was an honor to know him. Family you all are in my thoughts and prayers. Always! Gonna miss him calling me to check up on family when he heard some news (good or not so good). Never going to forget that.

"Little Dave" and the Simpson family,

I was saddened to hear of Dave's passing. Dave's impact on so many young men and women as the track and field coach at NBHS was immeasurable. To think that the many years of service were voluntary makes it even more remarkable.

I personally first got to know Dave when he drove a school bus for NBHS, and I am so thankful and honored for the many years of friendship.

I do hope that the memories you shared with "Big Dave" will sustain you in this time of loss and that you find comfort in the words of Our Lord.

It came as no surprise to me the success he had as a coach. I will always remember our last conversation at the class of '81 reunion in 2021. He talked about his grandchildren.
